On Shopping at SheIn

SheIn definitely edges the territory of “too good to be true.” I mean, it’s certainly not a terrible, but it doesn’t take more than a quick Google search to let you know that you’re getting what you paid for. Still, they had some nice looking stuff and as it’s known first and foremost for being cheap, I decided to dive in and get two dresses, just to see what my experience would be like.

Well, they came in yesterday and I’m…fine with it? I mean, I went in with low expectations, so I was pleasantly surprised that one of the dresses fit me just fine.

It doesn’t look as good on me as it does on the model, but it’s not bad. The material feels like your basic t-shirt and  the white part isn’t see-through, which is a big must for me whenever I actually wear white. Definitely something I’ll wear when (if) it gets warmer out (seriously summer, where are you?).

As for the second dress, this is where the disappointment kicked in, mostly because I was looking forward to this one more and it’s just so small.

Now look, I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve put on some weight recently, but as someone who is 5’1”, I’m still used to being a small. This…this was a very tiny small, let’s put it that way. I’m working on exchanging it with a larger size with their customer service, and they’ve been very quick at responding to my ticket, so at least that’s a plus.

Timing-wise, it actually wasn’t that bad. I got mine in about three weeks, which is pretty reasonable considering it’s being shipped from China. I watched some YouTube videos complaining about it taking forever, but honestly…three weeks is a small price to pay for such low prices. Just keep the timing in mind if you need an outfit for an event.

The biggest drawback to SheIn as far as I can tell is that every item of clothing has completely different measurements, so you could be a small in one thing and a large in another. Definitely take the time to measure yourself before shopping there, and check the sizing charts! See how I bolded that? That means it’s important. Apparently SheIn is working on getting a more uniform sizing system down at some point, but who knows when that will be, and since I have a wish list to work through once this dress exchange is done, I don’t have time to wait.

Overall, I’m giving my SheIn experience 3/5. Sure, I’m annoyed about the sizing issue, but I have a feeling I’ll be buying more from them in the future.
