I know I mysteriously disappeared, and I’d like to say I have an excuse but…I totally don’t. I’m sorry. I needed to take a week off, and then my dad’s 60th birthday party sprang up this past weekend and blogging just wasn’t the top priority. That doesn’t, however, mean I haven’t been writing. So here’s a quick update on some PopWrapped content that you should totally check out if you haven’t already!
Spawn fans may or may not be disappointed to hear that the titular character won’t actually be the star of his own film. Instead, the movie will follow Detective Maximilian “Twitch” Williams. You can find out all about it by clicking here.
Life with superpowers may be fun, but not when it comes to keeping yourself stylish. James McAvoy recently admitted that he absolutely hates shaving his head to play Professor Xavier in the X-Men films. I can only assume his boyfriend Magneto does not feel the same way about it. Shut up, they’re totally a thing.
Speaking of romance, one of my favourite guilty pleasures is returning to TV, with a scandalous twist! Four Weddings will now feature four friends who know each other instead of complete strangers, so you know there’s going to be some juicy gossip going on. Yes, I have questionable taste. No, I regret nothing.
Unfortunately, the Godzilla fandom got some pretty devastating news, as the original suit actor for the legendary kaiju, Haruo Nakajima, passed away at the age of 88. He was a very interesting man and I encourage you to learn more about him.
The Hellboy reboot is chugging along nicely, having just added Resident Evil star Mila Jovovich to its cast. It’s a bit of a change of pace for her this time, as she’ll be playing a villainous role.
I don’t watch The Walking Dead—I know, I know, shame on me—but fans got some interesting news about series creator Robert Kirkman. Turns out Kirkman is departing from AMC to go work with Amazon on genre fiction-focused projects.
David Tennant is returning to season 2 of Jessica Jones, news which simultaneously delights and disappoints me. On the one hand, he was wonderfully chilling as the villain. On the other hand, I really don’t want him coming back from the dead. Please let it be flashbacks!
Sadly, the Deadpool film also had their share of devastating news, as it was announced that stuntwoman Joi “SJ” Harris died in an accident during filming. Ryan Reynolds released a statement on Twitter saying that his “heart pours out” to her loved ones.
Finally, in news that will delight horror fans, modern day scream queen Anya Taylor-Joy is rumoured to have signed on to the Nosferatu remake. This film will once again allow her to work with director Robert Eggers, who also directed The VVitch.
So that’s all my news! How have you all been?
